A 52-year-old man died Tuesday before crashing into an embankment in Codorus Township, according to state police.

Allan Ronald Pinkerton Jr., of Codorus Township, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash about 12:45 p.m. at 3880 Jefferson Road, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

Pinkerton's official cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy, which will be conducted at 8 a.m. Thursday.

Pinkerton was traveling south on Jefferson Road in his Honda Accord when the car left the roadway and struck several objects before coming to rest at an embankment, according to police.
