Fire intentionally set at York City scrapyard

Multiple cars at a scrapyard were damaged by a fire Thursday that was intentionally set, according to a fire official.

York City Deputy Fire Chief Chad Deardorff said the a fire at Baughman's scrapyard at 440 Eberts Lane damaged 11 cars.

The fire was reported shortly after 4 p.m., and Deardorff said the fire took firefighters about 40 minutes to put out.

Electrical fire causes evacuation at West Manchester Walmart

He said there were heavy flames at the scene, and a heavy column of smoke could be seen as fire officials arrived.

The deputy chief estimated the fire caused $5,500  damage — about $500 per car.

No injuries were reported.

York City Police will be investigating the blaze.
