Southbound Interstate 83 traffic will be restricted over the John Harris Memorial Bridge during the next two weekends, according to a release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

.

The bridge in the Harrisburg area, known as the South Bridge, will have its right southbound lane and shoulder closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Two southbound lanes will be available to traffic during these times, PennDOT said.

The next weekend, the two right southbound lanes and shoulder will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, June 9, until noon on Saturday, June 10. The two lanes and shoulder will again be closed from 9 p.m. June 10 until noon Sunday, June 11, PennDOT said.

During those overnight operations, southbound I-83 will be restricted to one lane over the bridge. There is potential for significant delays, the release states.

During both weekend operations motorists are asked to seek alternate routes and allow additional travel time.
