Repairs  on Route 74 in Red Lion through Windsor and Chanceford townships are scheduled to start Monday, according to a release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

PennDOT's contractor will begin  repairing and resurfacing a 6.11-mile section of Route 74. The work begins at the intersection of Broadway and Route 24 in Red Lion and continues east on Delta Road through  Windsor and Chanceford townships.

The repairs are supposed to stop at the intersection of Felton Road, the release states.

Work is expected to finish by the end of October.

According to PennDOT, the contractor has agreed to not conduct nighttime repairs within the borough limits.

The contractor has  agreed to not restrict travel lanes on Route 74 between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and between 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m..

However, the contractor will need to restrict lanes during those times for a weekend detour that will allow a large drainage pipe replacement between Laurel Road and Felton Road in Chanceford Township, the release states.

Drivers might encounter shifting traffic patterns and a single lane of travel both directions on weekdays at the other times during the repair work.

Work on Route 74 includes base repair, drainage work, curb cut work required by the Americans with Disabilities Act, removal of the top layer of asphalt, resurfacing, guardrail replacement and new signs and pavement markings, PennDOT said.
