Police: Delta woman assaulted cops
A Delta woman is accused of assaulting police officers when they were called to check on her last week, according to police.
Hellam Township Police say Steffany Lynn Carraway did not want police in a home Wednesday and assaulted officers when she tried to leave the home.
Carraway, 19, of 823 Main St., Delta, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of resisting arrest and simple assault, according to charging documents.
Alleged incident: Police were called to a home in the 800 block of North Front Street in Hellam Township about 11:30 p.m. on May 17.
Carraway's mother told police that her daughter was feeling down, and she was afraid something happened to her, court documents state.
Two Hellam Township officers and one Lower Windsor Township officer showed up and tried to make contact with Carraway, police said. When police spoke with her, Carraway said she wanted to speak with her mother, according to police.
Carraway, her mother and the three officers were inside the home when Carraway became "irate" with police, court documents state.
She then told the officers to "get the f— out," police said.
Carraway ran past the officers, and one officer tried to stop her, according to charging documents.
Police say she ran out the back door of the house and slammed the door on the right arm of one of the officers. After that, police say she was told that she was under arrest.
Carraway proceeded to flail her arms and kick that same officer while she was being taken into custody, court documents state.
When the other officers came to assist, police say Carraway kicked another in the chest.
She was arraigned on the charges May 18 at York County's central booking unit, and she was remanded to York County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail. She does not have an attorney listed.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 15 at District Judge Robert Eckenrode's office.
