Police: Sex offender molested 7-year-old
A sex offender currently in York County Prison on unrelated charges is accused of molesting a 7-year-old girl two years ago, according to charging documents.
Christopher A. Johnson, 54, whose address is listed as the prison in Springettsbury Township, is charged with indecent assault, indecent assault of a person younger than 13 and corruption of minors.
York Area Regional Police say Johnson molested the girl when he was left to babysit her in 2015.
Allegations: On April 3, the victim's parents reported that Johnson molested the girl, now 9, two years before, police said.
According to court documents, Johnson was the boyfriend of the victim's parent's friend, and they all lived in the same York Township apartment complex.
On April 12, the victim told officials that Johnson had touched her genital area with his hand outside her underwear and that he kissed her on the mouth, documents state.
Police say the incident occurred on Father's Day weekend in June 2015, when Johnson was left to babysit her.
According to court records, Johnson is currently serving 11½ to 23 months in York County Prison for failing to register as a sex offender with state police. He has been there since July 2016.
Records show that Johnson has been a registered sex offender in Pennsylvania since January 2016.
He was convicted in 2001 for having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl in California in 2000, according to the national Megan's Law website. He spent three years in prison for the offense, according to the website.
His latest charges were filed Wednesday, and Johnson was arraigned on them Friday morning. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. June 6 at District Judge Scott Laird's office.
