Coordinated by Rita Whitney of Prime Art Supply in York, 14 murals are being created on sidewalks near schools, health organizations and other civic hot spots around the city. Thanks to a grant to Bring On Play by national nonprofit KaBoom, the art will provide educational opportunities via play.
Twelve local professional artists and two high school students were selected after submitting design concepts to Bring On Play. About half of the murals were completed Sunday. The other artists take to the concrete next weekend.
After all the murals are complete, the City of York will clear coat the art for durability.
