Coroner: Man found under mower drowned

A Heidelberg Township man who was found in a pond under a lawn tractor last month died of drowning, according to a release from the York County Coroner's Office.

Timothy Stockslager, 54, was seen mowing in the 6000 block of Hoke's Road in Manheim Township about 10:10 a.m. on April 10. At 10:21 a.m., he was found in a pond on the property with the lawn tractor on top of him, according to the release.

He was taken to Hanover Hospital and pronounced dead at 6 p.m. April 12.

An autopsy conducted at Lehigh Valley Hospital found that Stockslager's cause of death was drowning, with the manner accidental, the release states.

Southwestern Regional Police said two people spotted Stockslager submerged in the pond. They got him to dry land and started CPR, police said.

A Lineboro, Maryland, fire/rescue crew was able to revive Stockslager at the scene, but he later died at Hanover Hospital, according to police.

Coroner Pam Gay said the cause and manner of Stockslager's death were pending results of toxicology, which can take a few weeks to come back. She said toxicology was not a contributing factor in Stockslager's death.
