A York City man accused of raping a young girl was arrested Friday morning, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Wellington Arias, 33, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in the 800 block of Calvert Street, according to the U.S. Marshals.

Allegations: Arias is charged with rape of a child, rape by forcible compulsion, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a child, sexual assault, corruption of minors, and aggravated indecent assault of a child, among other charges, according to court documents.

York City Police say Arias sexually assaulted a girl in her tweens over the period of two years. Arias was an acquaintance of the girl's family, police said.

Arias' attorney, Jesse Markley, said his client refutes the charges.

"There have been allegations made against him in the past few years — all of them have been unfounded," he said Friday afternoon.

Markley claimed Arias' charges were brought against him because his attorney at the time told him not to speak to police.

"We intend to defend against these claims and prevail," he said.

Arias was arraigned on the charges Friday morning at District Judge Joel N. Toluba's office. He was remanded to York Coutny Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. May 1 at Toluba's office.
