A teen robbed an elderly woman last week in Springettsbury Township, according to a news release from police.

Springettsbury Township Police say officers were sent to the parking lot of Weis Markets at 2400 E. Market St. for a strong-arm robbery on the evening of March 22. The victim, a 76-year-old woman, told police a white teenage boy grabbed her purse, according to police.

She tried to resist, but the thief knocked her to the ground, police said.

Several bystanders pursued the teen in vehicles and on foot, and the woman's purse was eventually recovered.

Police say the teen was last seen running north across East Market Street. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and light blue pants, with light-colored shoes. He also was wearing a Dark Knight hat. He was seen exiting the front passenger seat of a two-tone Subaru Outback, according to police.

The woman's shoulder was dislocated in the incident, and she had bruising on her face and hand, police said.
