Celtic Classic comes to York next week
- The Celtic Classic will be happening March 15 - March 19 at the York Expo Center.
- 10,000 entries are expected this year.
The York Expo Center will be expecting thousands of visitors this upcoming week — many of whom will be of the furry, four-legged variety.
The Celtic Classic Dog Show takes over the expo center for its 11th year in York next week, and 10,000 dogs are expected to participate during the five-day event.
The show brings in people from all over, including Tennessee, Florida and even Ontario, according to Carol Dotts, president of the York County Kennel Club, a sponsor of the event.
Show: Running from Wednesday through Sunday, the show will be renting every building on the fairgrounds, Dotts said.
“It’s a good way to spend a day," she said, adding that it's something to see for people who haven't seen a dog show before.
Dotts said people will get "caught up in the excitement of it" when seeing the show in person.
She said each year the show grows bigger.
“There are over 10,000 dogs entered," she said.
Dotts said there will be a variety of dogs on display.
“Any breed you can basically think of will be there,” she said.
Additionally, people will be able to talk to the owners about their dogs.
“The people who breed these dogs are very thrilled to get them out for people to see them," she said.
According to a release from the York County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the show brings in an estimated $5.3 million in economic benefits to the community.
Admission is free. Additional information may be found on the show's website: http://wp.thecelticclassic.com/
