The York St. Patrick’s Day parade is just a few days away, and traffic plans are taking shape.
The 34th annual Irish celebration will step off promptly at 1 p.m. Saturday, but several street closures will begin earlier in the day, according to a release by the York City Police Department.
Market Street will be closed from Belvidere Avenue to Penn Street starting at 10 a.m., and the closure on Market Street will extend to Queen Street starting at 11:30 a.m.
George Street from Philadelphia to King streets also will close at 11:30 a.m..
Any roads intersecting streets in the parade routes will be closed beginning at 12:30 p.m. All closed streets and intersections will remain closed until the end of the parade.
The parade will begin in front of the Penn Street Farmer’s Market on Market Street and continue east to Duke Street, ending near the Yorktowne Hotel. Springettsbury Township resident Lynda O’Byrne Randall is this year’s grand marshal.
