Manchester Crossroads hhgregg closing
The York store will close by mid-April.
Electronics and appliance retailer hhgregg has announced it will be closing 88 stores across the country, including its sole location in York County.
The hhgregg at 351 Loucks Road in Manchester Township is one of several locations that will be closing in the midstate. Stores in Lancaster, Harrisburg and Mechanicsburg also will be closing.
"We are strategically exiting markets and stores that are not financially profitable for us," hhgregg President Robert J. Riesbeck said in a news release. "The management team has worked tirelessly over the past year to return hhgregg to profitability.”
However, the retailer has reported several consecutive quarters of losses, including a 23.7 percent decline in net sales in the third fiscal quarter compared to the previous year.
“We have determined that the economics of the affected locations will not allow us to achieve our overall goal of becoming a profitable company again,” Riesbeck stated in the release.
The Manchester Crossroads store, along with 87 other locations, will close by mid-April.
