Locals wine and dine with A Taste of York City
With the aroma of Restaurant Week already in the air, Friday night marked the 15th annual A Taste of York City event, held at the Valencia Ballroom.
Just before the doors opened at 6 p.m., tables were decked out in decoration, and four participating restaurateurs were preparing their appetizers.
Esaan Thai Restaurant owner Jai Delp, who has participated in the event a few times, was preparing a debut of pork belly bites.
Delp said of loyal customers: "They love us — and we wanted to try something new."
Nearby was Brandon Hufnagel from Rockfish Public House and the restaurant's signature dish, tuna poke nachos.
"I'm excited to see familiar faces, and it's always great to share ideas with other restaurants — we really don't get the chance to do that," he said of the event.
The fundraising gala benefits York City's annual special events season. It featured a seated, served dinner with each course presented by a different downtown restaurant.
Participating restaurants included Baron Von Schwein, Central Family Restaurant, The Copper Crust Co., King Brat, Tutoni's, White Rose Bar & Grill and York City Pretzel Co.
The evening also included live and silent auctions and was hosted by Sean Kenny, executive director of Farm & Natural Lands Trust of York County, and Kevin Schreiber, president and CEO of the York County Economic Alliance.
