Police: Tips needed in Dover Twp. vehicle arson
Police are asking for the public's help to solve a vehicle arson in Dover Township.
Northern York County Regional Police said they were called to the 3100 block of Jayne Lane about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, where officers found a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV fully engulfed in flames.
The vehicle was destroyed, according to police.
The SUV's owner told officers he'd parked his vehicle about 6 p.m. Saturday. He said he was awakened about 3:30 a.m. by a loud popping nose, police said.
Investigators obtained surveillance video from a neighbor's security system. In it, a person can be seen approaching the SUV, getting into it, then fleeing moments before fire is seen inside the SUV, according to police.
Lt. David Lash said investigators are hoping other neighbors will come forward with their security videos from that time frame.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 717-292-3647 or call 911. Or leave a tip online at nycrpd.org.
