Springettsbury Township Police are warning residents of potential "card skimming" in the township.

Police say in the last week there have been numerous reports of people who have had unauthorized withdrawals from their bank accounts.

One of the most common ways bank card information is taken is through "card skimming devices" at ATMs or other self-service card-swipe locations, such as gas pumps, according to police.

Authorities are urging people to use caution when at these types of locations, and they are asking people to inspect the area for anything that looks out of place.

Residents are urged to not use the ATM and call police if something out of place is spotted.

Springettsbury Township Police may be reached at 717-757-3525.
