Another York County police department is reaching out to residents with a message that has been echoed by other county police departments: Keep cars locked.

Newberry Township Police posted on their website Thursday that they have seen a significant increase in thefts from vehicles during the overnight hours in multiple neighborhoods.

Residents are encouraged to remove and valuables such as purses, book bags, electronic devices and money from their cars.

Police say neighborhood patrols will continue to be increased.

Anyone witnessing suspicious activity may report it directly to York County 911.

Those with information on the thefts are asked to call the department at 717-938-2608.
