A fire destroyed a trailer in Chanceford Township on Friday night, according to a fire official.

New Bridgeville Fire Co. Chief Ron Witmer said the fire consumed three-quarters of a trailer in the 1800 block of New Bridgeville Road. The blaze, which was called in about 6 p.m., took firefighters about 45 minutes to get under control, according to the chief.

“It was well-involved until I pulled in," Witmer said. He said flames were coming out of the trailer when firefighters arrived.

One person was displaced because of the blaze, and no injuries were reported. No one was in the home during the fire, the chief said.

The chief said officials are still trying to figure out what caused the fire, but he said there is no reason to believe it was suspicious.

"It's going to be an accidental fire," he said.

He said the fire most likely started near the back door, where there was a furnace.

Witmer did not have a damage estimate for the fire. The resident displaced will be staying with friends, the chief said.

Crews from Wrightsville and Yoe assisted with the blaze. Firefighters left the scene about 9 p.m.
