Spring Garden Township Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Thursday night, according to a release from the department.

The victim reported that about 9 p.m. Thursday she was walking in the 400 block of Dupont Avenue, when the suspect, described as a black man dressed in dark clothing with a hoodie pulled tight around his face, approached her walking from the opposite direction, police said.

The suspect pulled a gun out and demanded any money she had, according to police.

The victim told the suspect that she had no money, so the victim instead demanded her cellphone, the release states. The suspect hit the woman with the gun and fled with her cellphone when another pedestrian began walking toward them, police said.

He was last seen running east in the 400 block of Dupont Avenue.
