A New Cumberland man remains in York County Prison after police say he contacted two teenage girls online and had sex with one of them in Dover Township.
Nathanial A. Wintergrass, 42, of 415 Fifth St., Apt. 2, is charged with three counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a person less than 16, two counts each of statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with minors, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors, according to charging documents filed by Northern York County Regional Police.
Dover: On Oct. 8, Northern York County Regional Police were contacted by New Cumberland Police after they received a report from Cumberland County Children, Youth and Families that Wintergrass was being investigated for allegedly having sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl, documents state.
Wintergrass spoke to New Cumberland Police that day and told officers he met the girl and had intercourse with her twice in Dover, where she lives, police allege.
Northern York County Regional Police spoke to the girl, who provided her cellphone for analysis, documents state.
While examining the phone, police found a conversation between Wintergrass and the girl that was sexual in nature, police said. The teen told officials she had met Wintergrass online and had sexual contact with him on two occasions, documents state.
She said the two occasions happened in Dover Township and took place sometime between July and October, according to charging documents.
Nude pictures: Newberry Township Police say they received word on Nov. 1 from Fairview Township Police that an unidentified man was seen hugging and kissing a female student, 17, at Red Land High School during school hours.
The man was identified as Wintergrass, who police say was communicating with the teen through social media and cellphone apps. Police say two full frontal nude photos of Wintergrass were sent to the teen, who lives in Newberry Township.
While speaking with police, Wintergrass told authorities he sent one or two photos to the teen, documents state. Wintergrass allowed police to search his phone, where the photos were found to have originated, police allege.
Police charged him with disseminating explicit sexual material to a minor and corruption of minors, according to charging documents.
Charges: Newberry Township Police filed the charges against Wintergrass on Nov. 30, and Northern York County Regional Police filed their charges on Dec. 12.
Wintergrass was arraigned on both sets of charges Dec. 16 at central booking, where District Judge Douglas F. Meisenhelter set bail at $150,000.
Wintergrass remained in York County Prison Monday.
