A maintenance employee for Eastern York School District is accused of possessing child porn, according to charging documents filed by state police.

Dale Richard Wickenheiser, 58, of 2807 Oakland Road, Dover Township, is charged with 10 counts of disseminating photos or film of child sex acts and one count of possessing child pornography, according to charging documents.

Wickenheiser, who is listed on the district's website as service personnel, was arrested Wednesday, according to police. Police say they found child pornography on compact discs at his home, and some of the girls in the pictures and videos were as young as 3.

Eastern York School District Superintendent Darla Pianowski said the district is aware of the multiple charges filed against Wickenheiser.

Wickenheiser is no longer reporting to work and does not have contact with any of the district's students, Pianowski said.

"When school officials learned of these charges, Mr. Wickenheiser was immediately placed on leave without pay, and all mandatory reporting processes were followed. Eastern York School District has, and will continue to, fully cooperate with authorities in the investigation of this matter," Pianowski said.

Investigation: According to charging documents, police began their investigation in September, when officials identified a computer sharing files that were potentially child pornography.

Police say at least three of the 11 pictures downloaded met the definition of child pornography.

Officials tracked the IP address to that of Wickenheiser's girlfriend, according to police. The pair lives at the same address, police say.

On Tuesday, police obtained a warrant to search the home. While the authorities were there, Wickenheiser's girlfriend told police she has never seen him look at child pornography. She denied having any knowledge of the downloading or possessing child pornography, police said. The two have been dating for five years and have been living together for about half that time, documents state.

Since Wickenheiser had already left for work, police met him at Eastern York High School, according to documents.

He agreed to speak with officers and was interviewed in the lunch room of the maintenance building, according to police.

Alleged admission: During the interview, Wickenheiser allegedly admitted to saving child porn on discs that were in his home, police said. He said he might have three or four CDs with child porn on them that he had downloaded between five and 10 years ago, documents state.

Police say Wickenheiser told them most of the files were downloaded before he moved in with his girlfriend but said he downloaded between three and five movies since moving in with her.

He also told police he had child pornography on two portable hard drives, according to charging documents.

Wickenheiser told police he looked at the files "every once in a while," but he had not looked at them recently, police said.

During the interview, a trooper searching Wickenheiser's residence found child porn on discs there, police allege. Five movies and five picture files found were the basis for his charges, documents state.

He was arrested and taken to the state police Loganville barracks, according to police.

A phone number could not be found for Wickenheiser, and it is not clear if he has an attorney.

Wickenheiser was arraigned Wednesday night at central booking in front of District Judge Jennifer J.P. Clancy, according to online court records. He remains free after posting $25,000 bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Jan. 30 at District Judge David C. Eshbach's office.
