York City Police say Ashanti "Uwop" Namu Rideout, 41, of 491 Madison Ave., shot Eric M. Martenson, 24, about 1:15 a.m. inside Pandora's Box, a bar at 466 E. Market St. Police obtained a warrant for Rideout's arrest Wednesday.

Lt. Troy Bankert, city detective bureau supervisor, said video of the incident, as well as interviews with witnesses, led them to identify Rideout. He said Rideout acted alone.

“The video and the witnesses prove too that the victim was targeted. It was not random," Bankert said Wednesday.

Although they know Martenson was targeted, he said, they still do not know what led to the shooting.

Video: Police obtained video surveillance of the incident at the bar, and police say during the altercation Rideout punched Martenson in the face with an object in his hand. Rideout then raised his right hand with a black pistol in it and pointed at Martenson, according to charging documents.

Rideout placed a round in the chamber, pointed the gun at the victim, and fired one shot at Martenson, striking him in the neck, documents allege.

He then put the gun into the right side of his waistband and walked out of the bar through the front door, according to police.

Martenson is expected to survive his gunshot wounds, Bankert said earlier this week.

Police say Rideout is also a convicted felon and is not allowed to have a gun.

Once arrested, Rideout will be charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and prohibited possession of a firearm, among other charges. He had not been apprehended as of Thursday afternoon, according to the lieutenant.
