Former vice president of multimedia and sales Jared Bean has been promoted to president of the York Daily Record, the Chambersburg Public Opinion, the Lebanon Daily News and the Hanover Evening Sun, as well as the business operations of MediaOnePA and the York Newspaper Co.

“I believe his knowledge of the market and your customers, in addition to his strong commitment to central Pennsylvania journalism and local ad solutions, will serve the team and the market well,” said Michael Kane, the East Group president for parent company Gannett.

Bean, who got his start in York as a marketing coordinator in 1997, had been serving as interim president since September.

"It's just exciting to continue to work with such a great team here in York," Bean said. "Our advertising department is committed to serving small and medium-sized businesses, and it's a pleasure to continue to work with them. I also look forward to working with our two great news organizations in York."

His appointment is effective immediately.

The York Dispatch has been published under a joint operating agreement with the York Daily Record since 1990, when the York Daily Record sought protection under the federal Newspaper Preservation Act.

The agreement, valid through June 20, 2024, means the papers share business operations — such as circulation and printing — but maintain separate news operations and editorial voices.
