A person was robbed of their cellphone in West York on Saturday night by a man with gold teeth, according to acting borough police chief Matthew Millsaps.

The acting chief said Sunday that the person was robbed outside the Dollar General at 1240 W. Market St. about 11:30 p.m.

"There was an individual outside the Dollar General store who was approached by a black male dressed all in black," Millsaps said, adding that the suspect displayed a small black handgun during the robbery.

“He had some type of Halloween-type mask, similar to a hockey mask,” Millsaps said.

He said the man probably did not have the mask on for the entire incident, because the victim got a look at the suspect's teeth.

"The victim was able to see that he had at least one, if not more, gold teeth," he said.

The suspect fled toward York City, Millsaps said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the West York Police Department at 717-854-1975 or York County Crime Stoppers at 717-755-8477.
