Police search for suspect in Springettsbury shooting
Springettsbury Township Police are searching for a man described as "armed and dangerous" who they say shot two women over the weekend.
About 2 a.m. Saturday, an officer heard shots fired in the area of Northern Way and Eastern Boulevard. When the officer approached the area, two cars were stopped at the intersection. One drove away while the other stayed. Police say two women were in the vehicle that had remained. They suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were taken by ambulances to local hospitals, according to police.
Police have identified Johnathon J. Martin, 28, of York, as a suspect in the shooting and the driver of the car that fled.
A second officer found the vehicle allegedly driven by Martin, according to police, and the officer attempted to stop him. The officer pursued the car until the driver fled south on the northbound lane of Interstate 83. Police have since found Martin's vehicle, but as of Sunday they had not located Martin.
A warrant has been obtained for his arrest. Charges against Martin include eight counts of aggravated assault, four counts each of attempted homicide and reckless endangerment, one count each of prohibited possession of a firearm and fleeing police, according to a release from the department.
Springettsbury Township Police urged Martin to turn himself in on the charges. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police at 717-757-3525.
