Coroner ID's Jackson Township girl, 3, who drowned on Thanksgiving

A 3-year-old girl drowned in an indoor pool at a Springettsbury Township home on Thanksgiving, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

Avery C. Ogle, of the 300 block of Mesa Lane, Jackson Township, was visiting a home in the 2300 block of Deininger Road with her parents for a family gathering, the coroner's office said.

At some point, family members noticed Avery was missing and began searching for the child, who was found unresponsive in the pool, according to the coroner's office.

An ambulance took her from the home at 3:10 p.m. to Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 3:35 p.m.

An autopsy at Lehigh Valley Hospital showed Avery's cause of death was drowning, with the manner accidental, according to the coroner's office.

A online fundraiser has been started to help pay medical expenses for Avery. As of Friday afternoon, $2,105 has been raised. To donate, check here.

Springettsbury Township Police are investigating. A call to the department for additional information was not immediately returned Friday afternoon.
