A York City man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg Saturday afternoon, police said.

Syied Drummond, 39, of East Market Street, was shot just above his left knee, according to Lt. Troy Bankert, who supervises York City's detective bureau.

It happened about 3:50 p.m. at the intersection of East Market and Albemarle streets, he said.

Drummond told officers he was walking out of a nearby corner store when he was shot, according to Bankert.

Drummond went to Memorial Hospital in a private vehicle, police said.

He told officers he didn't see who shot him and doesn't know why anyone would want to shoot him, according to Bankert.
