Head-on crash on interstate kills man, boy, 12

TANNERSVILLE, Pa. — Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania say a head-on collision between a box truck and a car on an interstate in the Poconos killed a man and a 12-year-old boy and injured four other people.

The Monroe County coroner’s office said the truck crossed the median and hit a car carrying five people on I-80 in Pocono Township just before 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Coroner Bob Allen said the 61-year-old Allentown man driving the truck was ejected and died at the scene. A boy in the car was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other occupants of the car were flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest and one was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
