Police: Manchester man choked wife, threatened to kill her
A Manchester man remains free on bail, accused of threatening to kill his wife while choking her, according to police allegations.
Ryan Bruce Neely, 34, of 150 Farm Lane, is free on $10,000 bail, charged with the first-degree felony of aggravated assault and the misdemeanors of simple assault, reckless endangerment and making terroristic threats.
Northeastern Regional Police were called to his home about 8:10 p.m. Nov. 3 for what was reported to be a violent domestic disturbance, according to charging documents.
Police found Kelly Neely standing on her front porch, holding her two young children, with visible signs of trauma around her neck, documents state.
Documents allege Ryan Neely used his hand to choke his wife, "then transitioned to an arm choke hold."
Alleged threat: While doing this, Ryan Neely said he was going to kill her, police allege.
Kelly Neely said she did not lose consciousness but did become dizzy, police said.
Sgt. Arthur Archambeault advised Ryan Neely of his right to remain silent, then asked if he'd like to talk about what had happened, police said; Ryan Neely said he would not like to talk about it.
At that point, Archambeault arrested and handcuffed the man.
No take-backs: "Ryan then stated the he would talk if he could just go to bed," the sergeant wrote in charging documents. "I advised him that he was under arrest for aggravated assault and he was not going to be un-arrested if he agreed to talk to me."
Ryan Neely then said he had changed his mind and wanted to speak about the incident, police said. After being Mirandized for a second time, he confessed, according to charging documents.
His phone number could not be obtained, and it's unclear whether he has retained an attorney.
A preliminary hearing on the matter is set for Dec. 21 before District Judge Robert Eckenrode.
