Chief: York Suburban teen took BB gun to football game

  • A student brought a BB gun to the York Suburban-Gettysburg High School game Friday, police said.
  • The student didn't threaten anyone with the BB gun or point it at anyone, according to police.

Spring Garden Township Police are investigating after a York Suburban High School student brought a BB gun to a football game.

Chief George Swartz said officers were called to the 1800 Hollywood Drive school about 6:45 p.m. Friday for a report of disorderly subjects at the football game.

York Suburban played Gettysburg High School on Friday evening.

"Prior to us arriving, the principal found a BB gun inside the backpack of one of the students at the game," Swartz said.

No one was hurt, the chief said.

"No information was provided to us that he pointed it or threatened anyone with the BB gun," Swartz said.

Alleged York High football game shooter captured

The student is 15 years old and attends York Suburban, the chief said.

"We did take possession of the BB gun," Swartz said, then turned over custody of the teen to one of his parents.

"At this point charges have not been brought," the chief said.

The case remains under investigation, he said.
