A York City man is expected to survive after being shot in the back inside his home early Wednesday morning, police said.

Ludwig Vernon Ditson, 46, of the 200 block of South Belvidere Avenue, did not suffer a life-threatening injury, according to Lt. Troy Bankert, who supervises the city detective bureau.

Ditson suffered a gunshot wound to the upper back at 1:38 a.m. and was rushed to York Hospital by ambulance, according to Bankert.

"This was not random," the lieutenant said. "He was certainly targeted."

Theories: He declined to discuss why detectives think Ditson was shot.

"We have some theories we're working on, but nothing I can confirm," Bankert said. "We don't think it's a family-related shooting."

One killed in York City shooting

Bankert said police are looking for two males about 17 to 20 years old, and that neither of them lives with Ditson.

The gun used to shoot Ditson has so far not been recovered, Bankert said.

Detectives do have leads they're following, he said.
