Police: Man attacked with machete outside York City church
A Wrightsville man who got into a physical fight inside a York City church Friday night is accused of using a machete to later attack the man with whom he'd been fighting, police said.
Felix Jimenez, 51, of 400 S. Front St., remains free on $100,000 bail, charged with aggravated assault.
According to charging documents, Jimenez and Marco Garcia were attending a meeting inside a church at 301 W. Philadelphia St. when the two had a fight. That's the address of York Otterbein United Methodist Church.
Lt. Troy Bankert, who supervises the York City detective bureau, said the fight turned physical inside the church, and Jimenez left.
Garcia left the church about 9:10 p.m. and was attacked by Jimenez, who was wielding a machete, Bankert said.
Jimenez cut Garcia's left forearm with the machete, police said.
Hospitalized: Bankert said the wound did not appear to be life threatening.
Garcia was taken to York Hospital. His hospital condition could not be obtained Monday.
After being arrested at the scene, Jimenez was taken to the county's central booking unit.
He was arraigned Saturday morning and his bail was set at $100,000, according to a booking unit supervisor.
