The new bridge carrying Route 216 over Centerville Creek in the southern part of the county near Glen Rock was opened to traffic at noon Wednesday, according to a news release from the state Department of Transportation. The bridge averages more than 3,300 vehicles a day.

The bridge, near the Shrewsbury-Codorus township line, has been closed since April 11 for the replacement project, PennDOT said. The previous bridge, buiIt in 1927, was classified as structurally deficient.
