- Kelly Lee Jacobs remains in York County Prison, accused of burning her grandsons with cigarettes.
- The Newberry Twp. woman also has a pending DUI case, according to court records.
A York Haven-area grandmother is in York County Prison, accused of repeatedly burning her three grandsons with cigarettes.
Kelly Lee Jacobs, 59, of 225 Pear Ave. in Newberry Township, is locked up on $50,000 bail, charged with three counts each of felony child endangerment, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment, according to court records.
According to charging documents, Newberry Township Police in June were alerted to a tip left with ChildLine, the state's child-abuse reporting hotline that Jacobs had physically abused her three grandsons.
The boys — who were 7, 9 and 11 at the time — were interviewed at York County's Children's Advocacy Center by a forensic interviewer a few days later, police said.
The boys all confirmed Jacobs had in the past burned them with cigarettes on their arms and legs in separate incidents, charging documents allege.
Police said the abuse happened at Jacobs' former home on Midway Road in Newberry Township.
It is unclear if she has retained an attorney to represent her in the child-endangerment case.
Hearing set: Jacobs was arraigned on the charges Friday and has a preliminary hearing set for Oct. 5 before Lewisberry-area District Judge Scott Gross, court records state.
Jacobs also remains charged with driving under the influence and careless driving in a separate incident. Newberry Township Police filed those charges against her June 23, online court records state.
She has a pretrial conference scheduled for Oct. 13 on the DUI case, records state.
