Roadwork that will cause lane restrictions on Interstate 83 this week has been pushed back a day.

The work that may cause some delays in southern York County was scheduled to happen Tuesday and Wednesday, but now will be done Wednesday and Thursday, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Southbound I-83 will be restricted to one lane between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday from Exit 10, which is the Loganville exit, to Exit 8, which is for Glen Rock, according to PennDOT.

On Wednesday, crews will be working in the right southbound lane, removing the top layer of blacktop for about 2,200 feet, and then repaving it, the release states. That procedure will be repeated in the left lane Thursday.

The work was pushed back because of the likelihood that rain will make the roads wet on Tuesday, PennDOT said. The work Wednesday and Thursday is also weather permitting, according to the release.

Drivers are asked to be alert and to obey work zone signs as well as slow down when approaching the work zone.
