A West Manhiem Township man is accused of threatening to drive his ex into a nearby lake if she did not let him see her cellphone, according to charging documents.

Corry Ray Bradford, 39, of 118 Vista Loop, Apartment G, is charged with false imprisonment, terroristic threats, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, harassment and simple assault, according to charging documents.

Penn Township Police say about1 p.m. Monday, Bradford agreed to drive his ex to pick up her car. Documents state that Bradford and the woman had been in a relationship for about 15 years and have two children. The two broke up about six months ago, according to police.

The woman told police that during the time since the breakup, Bradford has been very jealous of her seeing or talking to other men, documents allege.

On Monday, Bradford picked up the woman and for about 20 minutes wouldn't let her leave the car, according to police. He said he would only let her out if he could see her phone, police said. He then told his ex that he was going to drive his car into a nearby lake, according to police.

"He threatens that he is 'ready to die today' and that they are 'both going to die today,'" charging documents state.

The car was heading toward the lake, police said, and within about a half mile of it, the woman jumped out of the moving car. She told authorities she had never felt that scared and had never seen him that mad before, police allege.

"She felt as though she was going to die today," the officer wrote in charging documents.

Police say Bradford kept his ex's phone.

According to charging documents, text messages and witnesses have corroborated her story.

Bradford remains free after posting $100,000 bail.
