Fairview Township Police say a 36-year-old man sexually assaulted two young York County girls over a period of two years.
The older of the two girls reported the abuse when she discovered it also was happening to her younger sister, according to charging documents.
Manuel D.A. Rodriguez, whose last known address is 35 Banks St. in Harrisburg, is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent exposure and two counts each of aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault of a child less than 13 years old and corruption of minors.
According to the charging documents, the abuse was reported Aug. 1 when the mother of two girls — ages 10 and 6 — who was acquainted with Rodriguez went to police with her suspicions. She said the older girl described the sexual abuse to her.
In subsequent interviews at the Children's Advocacy Center, both girls reported sexual acts committed by Rodriguez. The younger girl told investigators the abuse started when she was 5 years old. On at least one other occasion, Rodriguez exposed himself and touched the girls under their clothes, the documents said.
Rodriguez was arrested and placed in York County Prison, where he remains, under a $250,000 secured bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 2:15 p.m. Sept. 12.
