I-83 bridge to be restricted to one lane Friday night
Southbound traffic on the bridge on Interstate 83 that crosses over the Susquehanna River in the Harrisburg area will be restricted to one lane of traffic Friday night, according to a release from the state Department of Transportation.
The lane restriction will occur at 9 p.m. Friday and should finish before 6 a.m. Saturday, according to PennDOT.
The restriction is so crews can make temporary repairs to two metal expansion joints in the bridge deck. Construction crews likely will need to return two more weekends to replace metal bridge joints, according to PennDOT. Those dates will be announced once they have been confirmed.
Drivers are asked to be alert, obey work zone signs and slow down when going through the work zone.
