Police say a Hellam Township man asked a teenage girl for sex in early June.

Randy Stahl, 27, of 5599 Lincoln Highway, is charged with criminal solicitation, corruption of minors and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old, according to online court records.

On June 2, the girl's mother called Hellam Township Police, saying a man, who police later identified as Stahl, had asked her to have sex with the girl while she was at Emig Park. The girl said she was with two friends there when Stahl approached them and offered drinks and cupcakes to the three of them, but they refused, documents allege. She told police Stahl asked to have sex with her, but she said no, according to charging documents.

The girl said she and her friends went to a swimming hole, where Stahl followed them, police said. While there, she said Stahl hugged her from behind and touched her inappropriately and touched her backside when she broke free, documents allege.

Through investigation, police determined Stahl could be the suspect, according to documents. Police say on Aug. 8, they were able to interview Stahl.
