CARLISLE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities are investigating an apparent inmate suicide at a county jail in central Pennsylvania.

Deputy Warden Michael Carey tells The (Carlisle) Sentinel that 46-year-old Richard Thorson, of Newville, died Saturday at the Cumberland County jail.

Carey says he can’t discuss details, including how Thorson allegedly killed himself but says, so far, nothing unusual has been found.

Middlesex Township police and the county coroner were continuing to investigate.

Thorson has been jailed since March 24, when he was arrested for assault and endangerment charges stemming from an incident three days before.
