Three people have now been charged and two others identified in connection with a robbery and assault at the Scottish Inn in New Cumberland July 18 that left one man injured.
According to charging documents, the victim, Sonny Banks, was beaten, kicked in the face, choked from behind and hit it in the head with a microwave during the attack. The four assailants allegedly stole cash and two cell phones from Banks. Police found a cellphone belonging to one of the assailants at the scene, documents state.
Charges: Joshua Guity-Nunez, 28, of Brooklyn, New York, also known as "V," and Miguel Arnold, 29, of Harrisburg, also known as "Midnight," are charged with four counts of conspiracy including robbery inflicting serious injury, aggravated assault, theft and receiving stolen property. Guity-Nunez remains in York County Prison unable to post bond. Arnold is free on $20,000 bail.
Det. Jason Lotier said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected. He added that given the ongoing investigation, he was unable to provide more information.
According to charging documents, Guity-Nunez and Arnold, along with Terrance "Kaycee" Hawkins and Tevin "Spookz" Bynoe, conspired to rob Banks and Lorainne Mendoza, who were staying at the Scottish Inn at 300 Commerce Drive. The documents state Banks and Mendoza had been spending time with two women, Julia Grimes, 38, of Harrisburg, and a woman only identified at the time as Lauren. Police say Grimes used Lauren to set up Banks and Mendoza to be robbed.
Hawkins and Bynoe have yet to be charged. Grimes was charged July 20 with the same crimes as Guity-Nunez and Arnold.
Plan of attack: Police say Banks and Mendoza went out to eat the evening of July 18, leaving Grimes and Lauren behind at their hotel room. While out, the couple were called and texted repeatedly and told that Lauren was suffering from a medical emergency and needed to go to the hospital. When the couple arrived back at the hotel, two men followed them into their room and two others sprung from the bathroom and began to assault and rob Banks, according to the documents.
Mendoza was shoved into the bathroom, where Lauren was also being held. While in the bathroom together, Lauren told Mendoza Grimes had set them up, the documents said..
After beating and choking Banks and taking cellphones and $650 in cash, the men started to leave the hotel room, taking Lauren with them and forcing her into their car. Grimes said to Banks, "That's what you get," the documents said.
Lotier said they are still investigating whether Lauren left the scene willingly, to determine if additional charges will be filed against the four men. She will not be charged in connection with the robbery, he added.
Investigation: Police responded to the scene and found Banks, his face bloodied, his eye swollen nearly shut and both his white T-shirt and a white bath towel saturated with blood, according to documents. Police identified Hawkins because of his cellphone left behind at the scene. And after tracking down Lauren, police learned the street names of the four suspects. The names Midnight, Spookz, Kaycee and V were sent out to other area law enforcement agencies, and after talking with confidential informants, police in Harrisburg learned the identity of Midnight and Spookz, Arnold and Bynoe.
