National Night Out events planned

Several York County police departments are planning events Tuesday for "National Night Out," part of a national effort to strengthen relations between local police departments and the neighbors they protect.

Many of the events will have free food and games, as well as live music. They are open to the people in the municipalities that the departments serve.

Events:

• Carroll Township Police will hold their event at Logan Park on Logan Road from 5 to 9 p.m. Residents of Carroll Township, Monaghan Township and Dillsburg are invited.

• Fairview Township Police will hold their celebration at Roof Park, 599 Lewisberry Road, New Cumberland, from 5 to 9 p.m.

• Hellam Township Police will hold their celebration at the Barshinger Soccer Fields on Accomac Road from 6 to 8 p.m.

• Newberry Township Police will hold their event at Susquehanna Speedway, 690 York Road, York Haven, from 6 to 9 p.m.

• Northeastern Regional Police will hold their event at Ordendorf Elementary, 101 S. Hartman St, Manchester, from 5 to 8 p.m.

• Northern York County Regional Police will hold their event at the Union Fire and Hose Co. on 30 E. Canal St. in Dover from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

• Southern Regional Police will hold their event at the New Freedom Community Center, 150 E. Main St, from 6 to 9 p.m.

• Southwestern Regional Police will host their event at the rear of the Spring Grove Area C&MA Church, 213 N. Main St., Spring Grove, from 6 to 9 p.m.

• Spring Garden Township Police's event will be held at York College, in the parking lot of Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center, 899 South Richland Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m.

• Springettsbury Township Police will host their event at St. Joseph's School, 2945 Kingston Road, from 5 to 8 p.m.

• West York Police will be holding their event at Shelly Park, at the intersection of North Highland Avenue and Filbert Street, from 5 until 8 p.m.

In York City, block parties will be held on various streets from 3:30 until 9 p.m. The following roads will be closed during National Night Out:

• The 200 block of East College Avenue, from 5 to 8 p.m.

• The first block of North Broad Street, from 4 until 8 p.m.

• The first block of South Penn Street, from 3:30 until 9 p.m.

• The 100 block of North Pine Street, from 5 until 8 p.m.
