Traffic jammed north and south of York City

Traffic is jammed on Interstate 83 heading away from York City in both directions, according to the state Department of Transportation website.

The southbound lanes of I-83 were closed briefly following a tractor-trailer crash at mile marker 9, though one has opened back up. Northbound traffic there, which is between the Glen Rock and Loganville exits, is unimpeded, according to state police, which cover the interstate.

Fire police have been called to a crash in the northbound lanes of the highway in the area of Exit 28, which is the Strinestown exit. The PennDOT site shows traffic backed up behind the crash.

State police did not have any further information available about either crash.
