Another York-area bank has been robbed by a man wearing women's clothing.
About 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, a thin black man about 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10 and wearing a colorfully patterned dress and an orange wig robbed the M&T Bank at 1000 Haines Road in Springettsbury Township, according to police.
He didn't brandish a weapon and didn't threaten to have one, according to Springettsbury Township Police Sgt. Brian Wilbur; no one was hurt.
The robber made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Wilbur said.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Springettsbury police at (717) 757-3525 or call York County Crime Stoppers at (717) 755-TIPS. All calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential, and callers don't have to give their names to collect cash rewards.
Wilbur confirmed investigators are working with York Area Regional Police to determine whether Wednesday's robbery was committed by the same cross-dressing, purse-carrying robber who police say targeted two York Township banks.
Previous robberies: York Area Regional Police said they believe two bank robberies in York Township since last fall were committed by one cross-dressing man.
Robber in drag hits York Twp. banks
Police have said they suspect the robber's inclination to dress like a woman is an attempt at disguise rather than a lifestyle choice, but they said they won't know for sure until an arrest is made.
A black man between 30 and 40 years old was wearing a green floral shirt with large print, an orange wig, sunglasses and dark pants or jeans when he robbed the York Traditions Bank at 235 St. Charles Way in York Township on July 16.
It's believed the same tall, thin man robbed the Northwest Savings Bank at 2220 S. Queen St. on Oct. 28, police have said.
He wore a dark-colored dress, hat and glasses and carried a multicolored purse, according to police. It's believed he fled the area in a gold sedan that was parked nearby at Bubba D's, which is the old Pizza Hut building, police have said. The car possibly had a Florida license plate and could have damage to the passenger side, York Area Regional Police said.
Different cross-dresser: York City resident Karibe Beatty dressed as a woman when he allegedly robbed the Members First Federal Credit Union at 2145 White St. in West Manchester Township on Sept. 3, according to township police.
Police: Another cross-dressing robber targets York bank
Beatty, 23, couldn't have committed either York Township bank robbery, because he's been in York County Prison since being arrested Sept. 14.
Anyone with information about either York Township bank robbery is asked to call York Area Regional Police at (717) 741-1259.
