Giant announced Wednesday that because of a recall by General Mills Inc., the grocer is removing Gold Medal All Purpose Flour. According to a release from the company, the product is potentially linked to an E. coli 0121 outbreak.

The recall is for Gold Medal All Purpose Flour, 5 pounds, UPC 1600010610, with better-if-used-by dates of June 18, 2017, Aug. 1, 2017, and Aug. 13, 2017, through Aug. 21, 2017.

Those who purchased the products are asked to discard the flour and bring the receipt to a Giant store for a full refund.

Most strains of E. coli are harmless, but others can cause sickness, the release states. Seniors and the very young, as well as people with compromised immune systems, are most susceptible to foodborne illness.

Customers looking for more information may call General Mills at 1-800-230-8103 or Giant customer service at 1-888-814-4268.
