Severe thunderstorm watch for York County

York County is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

All of central Pennsylvania is included in the watch, the NWS said.

The area is also under an excessive heat warning from 3 to 8 p.m. today, with heat indexes reaching as high as 110 degrees, the NWS said.

A severe thunderstorm watch means the conditions are favorable for a thunderstorm to develop. Residents should be prepared to take cover if a storm heads this way.
