Police: York man attacked ex in Foundry Park

Police have filed charges against a York City man who they allege attacked his ex-girlfriend with a pocketknife in Foundry Park.

Samuel Martinez, 34, of 118 S. Pershing Ave., will be charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and making terroristic threats, according to court records.

Charging documents filed by York City Police state Martinez met up with ex-girlfriend Jessica Williams about 6 p.m. July 19 at Foundry Park, which is the Codorus Creek boat basin at 230 W. Philadelphia St.

The two started to argue, and Martinez threatened to kill Williams, according to charging documents.

He allegedly pulled out a red-and-black pocketknife and started swinging it at her, police said.

Martinez tried unsuccessfully to stab her, then pushed her to the ground, documents state.

Williams suffered abrasions on her arm and red marks on her neck but avoided being stabbed, police said.

Police filed charges in the office of District Judge Joel Toluba on Friday; Martinez has not yet been arraigned, according to court records.

He could not be reached for comment, and it's unclear whether he's retained an attorney.
