Victim of fatal crash on I-83 in York identified

A single-vehicle crash killed a York City man on Interstate 83 Friday night, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

The crash, which occurred about 10 p.m., happened along I-83 southbound, near Exit 19, Market Street.

Brian Patrick Shiley Jr., 24, of varying addresses in York City, died when lost control of his Chrysler Sebring, hitting a guard rail and traveling about 70 feet, before going down an embankment about 30 to 40 feet below, the coroner's office confirmed.

Shiley was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner's office. The cause of death is multiple blunt-force trauma and the manner is accidental. There will be no autopsy.

A passenger in the vehicle survived and was taken to York Hospital, the coroner's office confirmed.
