Burn ban issued for Springfield Township
A burn ban is in effect for Springfield Township, according to a release from the Springfield Township Board of Supervisors.
The hot and dry conditions have created a "dangerous fire potential" in woodlands and fields, according to the release.
During the burn ban, igniting or feeding an open fire is prohibited because the conditions pose a significant risk to life an property. Anyone who sees an outdoor fire is asked to call 911 immediately and report the location.
The burn ban will remain in effect until the danger no longer exists and the board of supervisors declares an end.
Hellam Township has also declared a burn ban, starting Friday and going until further notice.
