Rural Pennsylvania shelter overrun by kittens, waiving fee
WAYNESBURG, Pa. — An animal shelter in a largely rural western Pennsylvania county has been overrun by kittens and is waiving the fee normally charged to adopt them.
Volunteers at The Humane Society of Greene County’s shelter in Waynesburg tell KDKA-TV they have more than 100 kittens and cats. Many are housed at the shelter in Waynesburg, but others are being housed at the PetSmart store in Washington, Pennsylvania, the county seat in neighboring Washington County.
The shelter is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.
Volunteers say their cat cages are full, and temporary cages are being used to house the cats.
